Yu-Minchotai 5-go kana is a classical kana sub-set font* that pairs with the kanji characters of Yu-Minchotai. Its design is based on a masterpiece metal type cast on a 5-go (approximately 10.5 pt) body meant to be used for book typography. Yu-Minchotai has elegant glyph shapes and soft strokes with characters designed to be slightly larger than those of Yu-Minchotai’s standard kana characters. This prevents characters set in this typeface from looking too loose, and makes it useful for a wide range of uses from body text to display. *― This font does not contain kanji (ideographic) characters.
