Fevzi Yazıcı

Fevzi Yazıcı has worked and created products in many branches of graphic design since the ’90s. He was the design director of Zaman Newspaper. Yazıcı gave design lessons at Marmara University. He organized the international design conference +1T Newspaper Design Days. Zaman’s design team won more than a hundred awards in the Best Newspaper Design Competition organized by SND.
Fevzi Yazıcı was among the journalists arrested as a result of the political turmoil in Turkey. He was imprisoned for 6 years and 7 months until he was released on March 2, 2023. It was during this period that he realized the design of the font called “Firdevs”, which he had dreamed of throughout his professional life. “Firdevs” is perhaps the first font designed in prison.
The pictures that Yazıcı drew in his cell were exhibited in New York and Minnesota under the name “DARK WHITE” and its world tour still continues.
