Nobuyuki Tada 多田信之

Tada was born in November 1965. In 1990, he graduated from the Visual Communication Course, Industrial Design Department, Faculty of Engineering, Chiba University. He then joined the Character Development and Design Department of Sha-Ken and was involved in typeface design and font development. His designs have won 2nd prize and Honorable Mentions at the Ishii Award Typeface Contests. Tada was also involved in the production of a Kenji Reisho-style Kana typeface and character set expansion projects, as well as the development of kana characters for the Honran Gothic typeface family with eight variations released in 2000. Also, in addition, he was involved in the product planning of some new typefaces including Ida Sign, a felt-tip pen script typeface in the style of kyokasho (textbook script). After Tada left Sha-Ken in 2003, he joined Sanshu-sha and started working on graphic design projects for government organizations. In 2005, he joined Toyokuni Printing, a Kodansha company, and was involved in graphic design projects and the foundation of a new division for electronic comic book production. He was also involved in the development and maintenance of an in-house database system. Since leaving Toyokuni in 2020, Tada has been working as an independent typeface designer.
