Salomi Desai is a type designer based in Mumbai, India. After graduating from Central Saint Martins in 2014, Salomi focused on branding and packaging projects in her home city, catering to both local and global brands. An interest in customising letters led to a year of work experience at font foundry Mota Italic, before studying type design at Ésad in Amiens, France – which culminated in a Latin and Devanagari editorial typeface. Salomi joined Universal Thirst as a type designer in 2021, focusing on both Latin and Indic projects as well as the Universal Thirst Gazette. She has been listed as a Woman of Typographic Excellence by the Malee Scholarship and her work has earned a certificate of merit from the Gerard Unger Scholarship.
