Stephen Nixon

Stephen Nixon owns and operates ArrowType, a type foundry and studio practice based in Brooklyn, NY, which specializes in custom type, type design, and font development. Before entering the field of type design, Stephen worked in digital product design and brand experience design at IBM. In 2018, Stephen graduated with a Master’s degree in Type and Media from The Royal Academy of Art (KABK) in The Hague, Netherlands.
Since then, Stephen has worked as ArrowType, crafting fonts that are useful, beautiful, and deeply personal expressions of timeless ideas. With each project, he seeks to push the technical and æsthetic boundaries of typography while also delivering fonts that are fun and productive to use. He also works as a font engineer for other foundries, helping others to create typefaces that are ambitious and highly functional.
Stephen also focuses on sharing knowledge through individual coaching, occasional in-person workshops, and videos published on the ArrowType channel on YouTube.
