Ciclo is a type system inspired by the work of Lucian Bernhard, specifically Bernhard Modern, with high contrast and a dramatically inclined axis. The inclination of the inner axis, nearly 45 degrees in some characters, was found to be a particularly intriguing aspect. To that end, I have endeavored to preserve a notably steep angle in the majority of the characters within the Display family. The system will also include a Text family with a lower contrast and tilt angle for easier reading. The name “Ciclo” is derived from the existing rotation on the internal axis of the characters and the interpolation between the Display and Text versions, in search of a third variant (Subhead) in which this angle is a factor that determines the optical sizes of the different variants.
Lechuga Type is a type design studio based in Quéretaro, Mexico. It specializes in custom, retail, and logos for brands and companies.
Although Antonio Lechuga released his first retail typeface family in 2016, he did not launch Luchuga Type as an independent foundry until late 2021. The foundry publishes a retail typeface catalog and develops custom typefaces for clients such as LaSalle University, Gatopardo Magazine, Agua Planeta Azul, América Móvil, and others.
