Victoria Rushton’s latest typeface was designed with lots of words in mind. Embury Text conveys warmth and Rushton’s unique point of view—she carefully considers how text faces communicate thoughts and feelings while contemplating design details. Contrasting characteristics like soft round curves, sharp end strokes, exaggerated oval counters, punched in slab-like serifs, and swelling swashes play subtly off of each other, offering an unexpectedly immersive experience to the reader. Embury Text is replete with OpenType features, including alternate forms, swash capitals, beautifully sturdy small caps, and ornaments for constructing borders evoking retro-modern style; Victoria Rushton 2016

Victoria was trained as a type designer at Font Bureau, where she spends her days lovingly kerning, plotting and snacking. She went to RISD and studied illustration because she loved to draw, but turns out the main thing she wanted to draw was letters, and that’s how she finds herself here, writing this little blurb, and she’s really glad you’re here too.
