HangeulJaemin is an open-source font (OFL) that has its roots in a 1908 edict issued by Emperor Sunjong of the Korean Empire, who was deeply concerned about the health and well-being of his subjects. The font is designed based on the calligraphic handwriting found in this edict.
Reintroduced in 2023 as HangeulJaemin 4.0, the font has been expanded to include standard simplified and traditional Chinese characters common in everyday Chinese life, as well as Japanese kanji, hiragana, and katakana characters. Boasting 2,350 Hangul characters, 95 Latin characters, 5 Latin ligatures, 13,083 Chinese characters, 198 Ghanaian characters, and 522 special characters, HangeulJaemin 4.0 is a versatile digital font. It allows for consistent design expression across Hangul and Roman alphabets, simplified and traditional Chinese characters, and Japanese characters.
