Layaan is a fresh take on the Ruq’ah style, designed for editorial use. It’s a contemporary interpretation of the traditional writing style, retaining its rigid skeleton but with a softer, more approachable feeling. Jawaher Alali designed the typeface, which blends elements of calligraphy as well as handwriting, to carve out a space somewhere between formal and casual.
