Get scratchy and dirty with this graffiti-inspired script typeface! Everyday captures the energy of street art with expressiveness and a little bit of scratches!
The digitisation of handwritten fonts is inherently a sensitive digital reconstruction. It is not easy to determine the degree of defects, so the typeface is well-drawn but still has believable messiness in some details. Everyday is a reflection of the cheekiness and roughness of dry strokes with a used felt tip marker that occasionally drops ink or doesn’t make a perfect stem. You need to push on the marker quite a bit when writing because it’s already written out. The speed and haste will also show itself in the slight bending of the stems or its sloppy finishing. Everyday font looks better in a tight fit. Characters merge, collide and bind into each other, as they naturally do when handwriting. Lowercases have a higher x-height, which is especially better for writing with a sweeping gesture. I’ve also added small capitals to the glyph set for titles and headlines.
Petra-D Type Foundry (est. 2025) is the independent studio of Czech type designer, calligrapher, and letterer Petra Dočekalová. The foundry celebrates the enduring vitality of handwriting in the 21st century, transforming its expressive spirit into finely crafted digital typefaces. Each Petra-D script font is built with meticulous technical precision, ensuring professional quality, versatility, and performance across modern platforms. With a PhD from UMPRUM Prague and partner status at Briefcase Type Foundry, Petra-D merges deep typographic expertise, craftsmanship, and contemporary design to push the boundaries of what letters can express.
