A versatile and playful monolinear script based on my manuscript. It’s capturing the natural flow and expressiveness, while looking timeless at the same time.
Monolina is highly stylized but retains its wild character, which stands out, especially in the larger sizes. It’s brimming with four sets of crazy uppercase, swash figures, contextual lowercase and plenty of accented ligatures, together with all neccessary characters and all sorts of symbols. It’s sketched with a ballpoint pen at an enlarged size. A ballpoint pen allows to control the glyph curve perfectly and keeps the monolinear stroke with zero contrast. Also, it was a replacement for standard Speedball pens, available in the Czech Republic under the brand Redispero. These were firmly attached to the original Czechoslovak advertising letterings. Due to the nib’s round shape, the strokes’ starts and exits are perfectly rounded. Since I wanted to stay with the single linear concept, hence the name: one-line –> mono-lina.
