At the turn of the millennium, Petr van Blokland conceived Productus as the humanist sans serif companion to his prizewinning oldstyle Proforma. Van Blokland has shaped the pair of typefaces as an ideal vehicle for distinguished corporate design, capable of styling all imaginable documents. Small text sizes read supremely well in either type. Both offer related distinction for headlines. Each supports the structure of the other. Font Bureau, 2000.

Born in Gouda, the Netherlands, in 1956, Petr van Blokland graduated cum laude from the graphic arts program at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts (KABK) in The Hague in 1980.
With his partner Claudia Mens, Van Blokland worked for over thirty-five years as a designer in the studio they cofounded. His output ranged from sketching and model-making to programming in various languages. He specialized in systematic design: corporate identities, form systems, online publications, and tools for type design.
After decades of publishing through Font Bureau, Petr van Blokland cofounded Type Network, where he exclusively releases new typefaces under the TYPETR label. He plans to publish new families on a regular basis and will also write the occasional educational post about graphic design, typography in general, and how to use type in particular.
