Pulpo Rust digitally simulates a handmade woodprint. For each of the 560 characters, the font offers four different qualities of print and gives you the opportunity to create a vivid typography according to your own visions. To create the fonts, 193 glyphs were manually cut into five wooden plates and carefully printed by hand. From countless test prints, the most charming four were digitized to create the different styles.
Floodfonts is an independent type foundry based in Cologne, Germany and was founded in the year 2000 by Felix Braden. In the early days he designed numerous free typefaces – e.g. Bigfish, Moby and Hydrophilia are available in the Adobe Creative Cloud. In 2013 he won the Communication Arts Typography Annual and Pulpo Rust (aka Kontiki) was nominated for the German Design Award 2019. According to the foundry’s name almost all fonts have a reference to water.
