About
Description

TypeBank UD Mincho is a universal design serif typeface with greater legibility and readability, while carrying on the tradition of the stately Mincho type. Because most of the Mincho types have thin horizontal strokes, some displays and signs are difficult to read especially for people with vision problems. TypeBank UD Mincho bases its design on TypeBank Yokofuto Mincho whose horizontal lines are thicker than those of traditional Mincho types. For the universal design version, dakuten (゛) and handakuten (゜) voicing marks are designed to be more legible, and the letterforms are adjusted to maintain their balance while having a larger face and wider counters.
