Vrinda is a typeface designed for typesetting the Bengali/Bangla language. Its characters are in a modern style, with low contrast between thick and thin strokes, with distinctive shapes that are curved on the bottom, with a blunt apex. It is not a traditional design; it is best used for short texts onscreen.
Vrinda was designed for Microsoft by type director Raghunath Joshi and Vinay Saynekar. It has two clearly distinguished weights, Regular and Bold, with no italic styles. Vrinda includes the characters needed to typeset the Assamese language; it also includes capitals and lowercase letters for the Latin script, derived from the Microsoft Sans Serif typeface.
