“Hardcover (2025) is an elegant serif typeface intended for display use. It was one of my earliest typeface ideas, dating back to a sketch I did while working at one of my first design jobs in 1978, inspired by the slick lettering I’d seen on mass-market book covers. The capitals follow a classic roman model, reminiscent of Times New Roman, but with more modern, simplified forms. The lowercase and figures are constructed similar to the capitals, avoiding features typically associated with lowercase such as ball terminals and angled serifs. Although it may be used in short blocks of text, Hardcover is designed to be used large. It is avilable as a Variable font family, Roman and Italic, and includes small caps and a set of dingbats.
Designed by Mark Simonson. Hardcover is a font family from Mark Simonson Studio—a member of The Type Founders collection. For additional license options like app, enterprise, multi-user, and self-hosted web, visit Mark Simonson Studio.”
Mark Simonson Studio is home to a range of typefaces that are as thoughtful and unique as their namesake, Mark Simonson. Each distinctive family of fonts is created as a tool for making things, not ends in themselves. For graphic designers and typographers, this means that each detail included was well-considered and will help your work look its very best. Whether display or text, sans, serif, or script, there is a perfectly suitable typeface that will fulfill every need in your design brief.
