Sweet Fancy Script is part of the Sweet Collection of engraved lettering styles from the 20th Century, published by MVB Fonts.
This formal script has been used for many years by stationers and engravers for wedding invitations, calling cards, etc. and is now available in digital form.
The design is based on original stationer’s “masterplates” from which an engraver would transfer letters to a printing plate with a pantograph device. In order to be true to the design in font format, a large number of alternate characters and ligatures are employed to produce the most authentic result possible. Best results are obtained in professional applications that support OpenType features, including contextual alternates.
The Regular weight is suited to use at most uses. The Light is very light, and recommended for use at larger sizes only.
MVB Fonts is a digital type foundry established in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1991 by type designer Mark van Bronkhorst.
